Waldameer Park

In the fall of 2006 Mekis Construction was hired by Waldameer Amusement Park in Erie, PA to assist in construction of a rollercoaster called Ravine Flyer II. The first part was the construction of an 800+ foot retaining wall for an access road. From there the project escalated to include the excavation of footers for the coaster. The substructures on the ravine were supported with h-piles that totaled almost a mile long. Over 8,000 cubic yards of excavation were completed to get to the foundations for the bridge. The bridge is anchored on 80 piles with 800 cubic yards of concrete. The bridge has 55 tons of painted structural steel and spans 165 foot over the only access to the Peninsula State Park.

The coaster was completed in time for the opening of the 2008 season.
