This project is owned by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and is located on Route 38, Emlenton Borough, Venango County.
This project included the reconstruction of approximately 1.5 miles of an existing two lane roadway with Wearing, Binder, and Base Courses. Within this reconstruction there was a Precast Concrete Box Culvert and approximately 3,000 lf of drainage pipes. The largest part of this project included the construction of four reinforced concrete Soldier Pile Retaining Walls and two Cast In Place Cantilever Walls, ranging from 10 foot to over 55 foot tall. The combined length of the retaining walls constructed was over 3,000 feet. Mekis Construction initiated the redesign of the walls which lead to a significant savings of money by the Department. These walls also included 81 Post Tensioned Rock Anchors.
This project was completed in October 2014.
